Campos - Para ser escritor no se requiere título ni grado académico alguno, da lo mismo si en el colegio eras científico, humanista, o un buenoparana-da: como en los nosocomios o lupanares, se acepta de todo. ¿Pero qué es lo que convierte a una persona en escritor? ¿Malformaciones genéticas, traumas, la falta (o exceso) de afecto cuando niño? Alguien aventuró que los escritores eran una especie de subraza, contestaría, insurrecta, amoral, portadora de frases ingeniosas y malas costumbres, que extrañamente mantiene cierta imagen de decencia. Como sea, y aunque suene un poco rancio en la era digital, un escritor se convierte en tal al publicar un libro. Mauro Campos debuta como narrador (fauna escasa en el sur de Chile) con este excelente libro que carece de lo usual en los textos iniciáticos: aparte de la promesa, hay oficio, cuentos reposados y revisados, lecturas, relecturas, entretención, esa aparente simpleza de la buena literatura. Cuando Truman Capote publicó Otras Voces, Otros ímbitos (su primera novela) a los 23 años, y la critica alabó -como una especie de milagro literario, a la manera de la biblioteca de Babel de Borges-, que alguien tan joven escribiera casi por simple azar, esa excelente novela. Capote replicó: de qué se extrañan si llevo como diez años encerrado escribiendo. Campos no tiene veintitrés, pero lleva varios años escribiendo, eso se nota y se agradece al leerlo. Sus cuentos son variados, logra con soltura diferentes voces y matices; no hay una temática recursiva ni un estilo que se repita, a ratos más parece una antología de varios autores. Son comunes la coherencia interna entre el tema y la forma, entre el tono y la manera de abordar la narración, el estilo pulido, el humor en todas sus variantes, desde la ironía hasta la fresca sonrisa de la ternura, se reconoce la justificación de la literatura como algo placentero, una especie de acertijo cognitivo, un regalo para el que quiera leerlo, como un juego de ingenio o una buena conversación. Así entonces Mauro Campos ya puede colgar en el living de su casa el titulo de joven escritor latinoamericano (quién sabe qué significa tal constructo), mostrarlo a los vecinos, a su gato y a su ejecutiva bancada. Text Any textual data included in the document Prólogo A mis noventa años publico, por primera vez, estos escritos basados en mi visión retrospectiva del mundo social y cultural de Valdivia. Visión centrada principalmente en los años 40 y 50 del siglo pasado. Mis apreciaciones, muy personales y ajenas a toda pretensión académica, podrán ser objetadas como demasiado subjetivas y a veces contrapuestas a las imágenes asentadas con el tiempo sobre este tema. En momentos de optimismo -que los tengo- creo que lo que me ayudó a adentrarme en estas reflexiones fue el no pertenecer yo a los Buddenbrooks y sí, pero sólo lateralmente, a los criollos tradicionales, aunque con ambas esferas -polos de atracción de entonces- tuve siempre estrechos contactos. Esta combinación de distancia, y a la vez de participación, me ha permitido -así lo espero- un enfoque algo más amplio y ecuánime. Me ha alentado también a publicar este libro, el deseo de dejar algún reflejo íntimo de ese período especial en que nuestro componente alemán -con un trasfondo ya de un siglo- apuró de pronto el tranco hacia su absorción completa en lo chileno. Absorción, sin duda, rica en mutuas influencias. Hernán Kí¶nig Sobre el autor Kí¶nig, Hernán, 1925-, Arquitecto chileno. Nació en Valdivia, Chile en 1925. Arquitecto de profesión, proyectó numerosas obras en el sur del país. En 2010, recibió el premio Obra Bicentenario por la Biblioteca Central de la Universidad Austral de Chile. Además, como escritor fantasma durante 50 años, produjo una serie de escritos que mantuvo en total reserva hasta ahora. Sus narraciones y ensayos reflejan la atmósfera de una ciudad chileno-alemana del sur, a mediados del siglo XX. Por aquel entonces, la colonia alemana cumplía cien años de existencia y el proceso de su integración social y cultural con el país adoptivo se aceleraba dejando atrás toda una época.
