En ella la célebre poeta peruana, luego de una primera etapa marcada por la influencia del surrealismo en pequeñas dosis y el existencialismo, explora con agudeza crítica el cuerpo en sus múltiples dimensiones y aristas. Este es el vaso comunicante con la materia, la naturaleza, los demás seres, la corruptibilidad del devenir, lo sagrado, la animalidad interna, la sabiduría más allá de la razón y la impureza de la vida cuyo sentido final siempre se escapa (“de lo inexacto me alimento” escribe en el segundo poema). Pero, a diferencia del monje español que pretende que el alma se despegue de la carne y del mundo para estar más cerca de la trascendencia divina, Varela abandona no solo de manera irreverente y hasta blasfema a dios (lo escribe con minúscula), sino que también a la metafísica y el discurso religioso para centrarse en el reconocimiento de la corporeidad necesaria para el conocimiento. En Ejercicios materiales se confunden las fronteras entre el cuerpo y el alma, lo bajo y lo alto, la ternura y la crueldad; los poemas se escriben desde un margen u orden distinto que busca desmantelar la farsa y la disonancia en vez de la perfección. Tal como lo indica Tania Favela en el preciso e incisivo epílogo que se incluye en esta reedición: “la poeta peruana nos enfrenta con la realidad en bruto. Se podría hablar de una escritura cáustica, mordaz, sin concesión alguna para quien lee; magnética y repulsiva a un mismo tiempo: salvajemente humana”. Así, mucho menos hermeneuta y mucho más hermenauta de este precoz testamento que pone en marcha la sosegada cadencia de su cascada, el poeta forja en tres instantes una propuesta que, transitando de lo vívido a lo vivido en pliegue y repliegue, sale airosa de su reto a la atomización de la realidad. Navega primero la palabra blandiendo su catábasis en Viejo jardín, donde lo fundacional es el regreso, pues no hay factura de barro o, como dice Borges, estamos hechos de olvido. El ahora es otro: “El fruto mordisqueado / yace en la tierra”, y “el giro de una espada de fuego / aquilata el árbol de la vida”. Cuencas y cuentas regresivas van desenvolviendo su programa, mientras las manos “escogen las minúsculas flores / para retrocederlas / hasta sus semillas”. La memoria empieza a escribir la hermosura de la agonía, y su ardua costura funde, vertiginosa, las remotas instantáneas de la biografía, que aparecen tan de golpe como los chispazos de la pantalla celeste y la cotidianidad metida en un bolsillo, haciéndose un momento y otro lo suficientemente coetáneos como para disparar entonces la esencial protesta de la poesía contra la predestinación y su ropaje causalista. “Nada caerá por su propio peso / porque en las pueriles vías lácteas / está tumbado el arquetipo del sol / y la luz es un combate áspero de existencia”, advierte esta textura antes de atrapar en la bisagra oximorónica de Las flores del arcoíris —realidad e ilusión en una sola imagen— la lúcida constatación de la estafa en que consiste la historia reciente. La segunda arremetida, Jardín sin hombre, halla la muerte ya instalada en su sitio y, aunque asumida, aún no se acostumbra del todo a su retrato de cuerpo entero. “Cada flor / prepara su horizonte / graba en el aire / su resuelto meridiano / y entre las cicatrices / mide la distancia / de la sensible geometría”, y un párpado gigantesco acoge ensus latidos la contienda intermitente entre la amnesia y la imposibilidad material del olvido, porque “aunque no tenga recuerdos / no puedo soportar / la mordedura de la luz”. Una tras otra se suceden las imágenes, y cuando una de ellas ya han reabierto la ventana de la infancia, el oficio escritural toma en primera persona el nombre de la poesía, balbuceando sus despojos, desmadejándose en misterios y presagios, hasta cuando, habida cuenta de que Dios, la guerra y la pobreza habitan una misma molécula, la memoria remonta el paso y se detiene en Utopía, donde los propios monstruos, liberados “con el soplo de la espumosa palabra”, enarbolan el nosotros tal como hicieran antes en Las flores del arcoíris. La épica, siempre jabonosa, convierte su espuma en un naufragio. La tercera y última sección, El olvido y su muerte, deviene desembocadura de un discurso que no quiere ser semblante y, en cambio, encuentra en la metonimia la superación del viejo jardín y del jardín sin hombre —es decir, del tiempo y del espacio—, la inexistencia enarbolando la existencia, en la exacta medida en que Masaoka Shiki, al señalar queel que detesta esta vida debe amar la flor del cardo, anticipa con pétalos la superposición cuántica. La voz, en efecto, sintetiza su dialéctica en cuanto es capaz de callar, de brindar arquitectura a la imaginación “en la bóveda serena del horizonte”. El nosotros ya no es promesa ni bandera, no es mirada, sino el más incendiario mirar donde flamean las partículas elementales del intimismo: “y con ese generoso silencio / les ruego me dejen soñar / con los benditos ojos / de mi madre”. En síntesis, la metamorfosis 9 entraña desmontar la crisálida. Sobre el autor El Pueta Iraola, se supone nacido en Valdivia allá por los años 40 y, aparentemente, aún vive. La primera referencia que de él conocemos (1971) se debe a la pluma del Capitán Hubert Cornelius, vocero de un grupo de anarquistas del verbo: poetas del mítico Grupo Trilce y la célula marxista de la Facultad de Filosofía de aquella ya también mítica Universidad Austral, de quienes: “liberatum sum, Deo gratia” y “Sumsum corda, Dux noster, dixit”. En la actualidad, pocos conocen sus versos y los que los conocen, no conocen al autor o, peor aún, algunos otros diletantes se los han adjudicado a sí mismos. Dicho en castellano se los birlaron; en chileno, se los choriaron. Solo un público anónimo le ha oído recitar, sin identificarlo, con ocasión de las fiestas ciudadanas que se mencionan; y sus familiares y amigos (que no son muchos) lo han oído leer muy en privado sus versos. Sobre el autor Miranda Gandi / Nacida en Valdivia en 1940 con el nombre de Cecilia Judith Martínez von Vriesen, infancia, adolescencia y primera juventud transcurren en el sur de Chile, entre Puerto Montt, La Unión, Temuco, y Concepción en cuya Universidad recibe el título d Profesora de Estado en Inglés en 1964. Se emplea en 1965 en la Cía. De Acero del Pacífico, ingresa a la Rama Aérea de su Club Deportivo Huachipato como piloto de planeador y civil, y se casa con piloto instructor, estudiante de Ingeniería. Por razones laborales del cónyuge se trasladan en 1972 a Alemania Federal con los dos hijos nacidos en Santiago. En 1976 regresa con sus hijos a Concepción desde donde la recesión de los ’80 los lleva de regreso a Santiago en 1985. Text Any textual data included in the document Desplazamientos, idas y venidas, y no sólo espaciales y entre lugares sino, también, recorridos y transcursos temporales y, muy en especial: interiores, son los que se construyen y se nos presentan en la lectura de El Viaje de los Amantes, este nuevo libro de Kira Maldonado, donde la mujer enamorada -que se expresa en los poemas- no teme moverse entre la prosa, la poesía, las reflexiones íntimas: teñidas, incluso, con dejos narrativos. “Viaje a las Dunas”, la primera parte de las tres del conjunto suma un trayecto adicional al mencionado en el título, ubicándonos y describiendo una zona de rasgos negativos: nada hospitalaria (en realidad, en todo el texto, pocos son los sectores que amparan, tampoco la ciudad), diseminada de elementos dispersos, rotos, disgregados, y habitada por “los hombres de hierro”, rencorosos, siempre violentos, imposibilitados de comprender el amor. Curiosamente, de ahí mismo son “los amantes”, pero sus sentimientos diferentes los impulsan a volar y alejarse hacia “la tierra de los sensibles”. No obstante, tan solos y abandonados se sienten que la sección más extensa es “El Desamparo”. Y buscando “un amor que no fuera ceniza” llegan a “El Encuentro”, la parte final, mirada y dicha, como las anteriores, desde la mujer que ama. Por momentos hay palabras, hay versos, que parecen transmitir un querer logrado, pero no existen las certezas, y como no hay facilismos ni obviedades, blanduras ni melosidades, sólo nos queda el convencimiento que “la hora de la belleza es una sola, / aquí y ahora”.
